Certificate III in Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance (HLT31507)

This qualification covers workers who provide a range of assistance functions to Dieticians and Food Service Managers. This qualification is suited to Australian Apprenticeships pathways.

Occupational titles for these workers may include:

  • Nutrition assistant
  • Dietetic assistant

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the development and delivery of food services to meet the nutritional needs of client groups. You will learn how to plan and modify meals according to nutrition care plans and dietary guidelines associated with a range of health issues and to meet the dietary needs of cultural and religious groups. You will also learn to support food services in menu and meal order processing, provide assistance to nutrition and dietetic services and follow basic food safety practices.

Enrolled students will complete 16 units of competency, chosen from the Health training package; including 9 compulsory units, and 7 elective units, which have been included in provided modules.

Delivery

The course is delivered by;

  • Part time mixed mode - a combination of face to face lectures, practical workshops (where applicable), completion of modules via distance learning
  • Distance learning / Online learning
    • Note: Where a course has scheduled practical requirements (i.e. Workshops/exams) there is a 100% attendance

requirement for ALL students

There are three (3) modules to complete in order to qualify for this certificate:

  • Module 1 – Health Administration
  • Module 2 – Fundamental principles of nutrition
  • Module 3 – Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance

This course is for people who want to work in a public or private hospital setting who need to learn how to process client meal orders and to plan, evaluate and modify menus and meals for a range of clients.

As part of this course you will be required to undertake 20 hours of workplace experience. These hours are best
undertaken upon completion of all (3) module assessments.

It is the student‟s responsibility to undergo any occupational screening, or vaccinations if so required by the facility.
Assessment activities will be undertaken via theory tests, completion of assessment workbooks, observation/ questioning checklists under supervision by Global Fitness Institute trainers/assessors.

Fees include all electronic training resources, notes, access to online resources, assessment tasks etc.

As this course is delivered mostly via distance/online learning, it is self paced, meaning there is no minimum timeframe for course completion, as long as the student successfully completes all required tasks.

Understand however, that evidence must be provided to ensure that you have met all required levels of competency for
each unit.We allow a maximum of 6 months for you to complete the course, but many students complete the course in a much shorter period.

Course length may also be considerably shortened by successful application for Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL), for those who have completed prior studies in related fields and/or have relevant industry experience.

Combined Qualifications

Students are able to enroll in multiple courses. Please note: This requires all/any pre-requisite units to be satisfied.
Upon completion of this qualification, you will be issued with

  • a certificate indicating the following;
    • this is to certify that „your name‟ has fulfilled all requirements for HLT31507 Certificate III in Nutrition and Dietetic

Assistance

  • a statement of attainment listing all completed units

Where a student does not complete all components of the course, a certificate of attainment will be issued with all competencies that have been satisfactorily completed and assessed.

First Aid

Students are required to hold a valid Level 2 First Aid certificate.

Global Fitness Institute deliver Accredited First Aid courses, please contact us for dates and locations, additional First Aid fee of $95.00 is to be paid at time of the course.

Where a student already has a current First Aid certificate (Level 2 minimum), or chooses to obtain First Aid elsewhere, they are to present that copy for RPL purposes.
